Earlham Association: Christmon graduated from Earlham with a B.A. in African American Studies in 1988.

Education: Christmon has a B.A. in African American Studies; he achieved an M.A. in Organizational Management from University of Phoenix in 2004; he completed doctoral work at Walden University from 2015-2018; and he recently earned a certificate in Higher Education Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University

College Administration: Christmon began his career in college administration as the Director of Admissions for seven years at Wilberforce University, the oldest private HBCU. He then moved to Purdue University Fort Wayne as Associate Vice Chancellor for nineteen years. Recently, he returned to Richmond as Vice Chancellor for External Affairs at Indiana University East.

Pastor: Christmon was a renowned pastor at Turner Chapel A.M.E. Church in Fort Wayne, the first Black congregation in that city. He lead the effort to successfully place his church’s building on the National Historic Register in 2021. He recently joined Bethel A.M.E Church in Richmond as its pastor.

Other Careers: Christmon worked at the New York Stock Exchange and served the civil rights activist Congressman Reverend Floyd Flake. He has also “worked with City College of San Francisco, Washington Mutual, National Urban League, Catholic Charities, NAACP, United Negro College Fund, public officials, LA Unified Schools, Riverside School District, the government of Turks and Caicos, Barbados”

Accomplishments: Christmon has received multiple awards from Purdue University, including: the Martin Luther King Dreamer Lifetime Achievement Award, given to those “whose contributions embody Martin Luther King Jr.’s vision of service to others and further the university’s commitment to diversity”; and the Acorn Research and Grand Award. He won the Pastor of the Year award from the A.M.E. Church Indiana Conference. Finally, the Los Angeles City Council honored him for his work in youth advocacy and development.
