Dr. Jon Smith: Jon Smith graduated from Tuskegee Institute and Meharry Medical College before moving to Richmond in 1947. He practiced medicine and purchased Reid Memorial Hospital a resuscitator when he discovered its importance to the lives of premature babies and that the hospital didn’t own one.
