Cass (C.) Stircle Patterson

Death: Around 1963

Career: After moving from Springfield, Ohio, in 1927, he founded and owned the C. Stircle Patterson Funeral Home, which was the only Black mortuary in Richmond. He was the son of two generations of undertakers, and his family had operated funeral homes across Ohio. According to his son, Stricle was arrested when he initially tried to open his business in an all-white area and had to move. He went on to build a very successful business due to his good work and good personality.
