Death: February 1, 1949, in Richmond, Indiana.

Education: He graduated from Richmond High School and the old Hiser’s Business College.

Career: He and his wife, Luetta, were in Richmond’s dry cleaning and dyeing business for over 30 years. They operated a plant at South Ninth and L Streets and a store on East Main Street. For some time, his was the only Black-owned business on Main Street.
Community Engagement: Charles was the treasurer for the Richmond Boxing Association, the Esquire Club, and the Quinn Lodge (he was a Mason). He was also a Shriner and a member of the Elks Lodge. He was part of the Board of Directors of the Townsend Community Center. He was also a devout member of the Bethel A.M.E Church.
