Career: Clyde had been in the dry-cleaning business since 1938. He had managed Vogue Cleaners on 10 S.W Fifth Street since 1952 before buying the store from the White owner. Clyde claimed that even though Vogue Cleaners was then the only Black-owned drycleaning place in town, he still retained all previous customers.
