Melvyn “Deacon” Jones is the epitome of the Blues keyboard player, having been recognized by his own industry as being in the top of his field. His resume of performances, and those he performed with, is a who’s who of notables in the Blues world.
He started with Richmond’s own Baby Huey and the Babysitters, then Curtis Mayfield, Freddie King, and then John Lee Hooker, for whom he wrote the song that earned Jones a Grammy. He has pertormed with Muddy Waters, Eric Clapton, Dr. John, Gregg Allman, and Eddie Money – as well as his brother, drummer Harol Jones.
